The project for the new “Department for Social integration” should be an architectural representation of the values of the institution, therefore concepts such as dedication to public service, reduction of social segregation, and service to the community should be clearly visible in the design. To demonstrate these values, our strategy was to focus in the creation of a public space containing a building capable of creating new ways of interaction between the public and the institution.
After we synthesized the complex mixed program required by the institution, we focused on the formulation of an efficient and flexible building: a unique public space transformed into a platform of open and transparent exchange that integrates the building with local urban flows in order to promote community interaction.
